Panther boys bowlers better in loss

RED OAK — In a mini-preview of the Hawkeye 10 bowling meet, the Panther bowlers took their lumps and gauged the field for what’s to come.

Creston/O-M competed against Harlan, Shenandoah, Red Oak and Lewis Central.

Despite finishing in fifth, the Panther boys bowled 358 pins higher than their Panther girls teammates with a 2,362 total.

The Panther boys bowled an 891 bakers, including a booming 231.

The Panther girls started slow, but bowled well enought to almost catch two squads. They finished in fourth.

“What I was the most proud of was the enthusiasm they showed,” assistant coach Jerry Hartman said. “Despite being in last place, you never would have know it by the attitude. The Baker frames for the boys showed they were playing as a team.”

Boys team scores — 1. Lewis Central 2,796; 2. Shenandoah 2,727; 3. Harlan 2,570; 4. Red Oak 2,404; 5. Creston/O-M 2,362.

Boys individual (varsity) scores — Eli Hartman 172, 141 (313); Dylan Linchn 146, 162 (308); Tanner Amos 154, 133 (287); Isaac Jacobson 165, 108 (273); Jonathan Seals 86, 162 (248); Walker Patterson 148, 142 (286).

Girls team scores — 1. Lewis Central 2,145; 2. Red Oak 2,143; 3. Shenandoah 2,093; 4. Creston/O-M 2,004; 5. Harlan 1,976.
